Parent & Baby Yoga

Once you feel like you can leave the house with your new baby, your re-entry to the world outside has a new hue. There are staples of the old world that you are learning how to do all over again with an infant in-tow, like grocery shopping, getting gas, and running to the bank. There are the faint memories of pastimes you used to take for granted, such as going to workout and taking a leisurely lunch. And then there are the new activities in which you want to emerge yourself and baby for both bonding and socializing!

Storytime, music classes, and stroller meet-ups are tried and true, typically easy to find activities; however, there are other exciting activities through which to get out and about with baby, while also meeting some personal needs of your own.

Parent & Baby Yoga is a great opportunity for you to take care of yourself while bonding with baby. This class is appropriate for all levels, whether or not you have ever done yoga before. All you need is to be doctor cleared to exercise and ready to socialize with baby!

What to Expect

Parent & Baby Yoga class is mostly focused on you! While baby chills on your mat, we will begin with centering breath work, move into gentle flowing sequences to stretch and strengthen your body, all while interacting with baby. Then comes baby’s turn, when we take the time to move his or her body and include him or her in the postures. We close with a relaxation period that is focused on centering yourself, not reliant on being completely quiet or still.

The class is more interactive (and noisier) than a traditional yoga class. You are encouraged to attend to the baby as necessary for feeding, changing and soothing – you can also come in late if need be, and stick around to chat with other parents afterward. The class format is ideal for babies until they are actively scooting/crawling.

What to Bring

Keep it simple. Bring a baby blanket, bring the diaper bag. Bring water for you and a paci or teether for baby. We’ve got you covered with a yoga mat and any other props you might need.
